Heating system for university

Vollmer Engineering Ltd. is currently planning a new heating system for a university chapel in the south west of England. In order to ensure that the heating system will be the correct solution into the future, a study was undertaken comparing different heating strategies for the university campus (centralised vs. decentralised, fossil fuel vs. biomass). This study showed that the annual costs of the candidate strategies were similar on a net-present-value basis if current fuel prices were assumed. Taking into account likely developments in fuel prices, the biomass solution was shown to have significant advantages in the near future.
