Biomass heating for primary school

Following detailed design of a biomass heating system for Fonthill Primary School, Bristol, by Vollmer Engineering, the system is now being installed under our guidance. A 300kW wood chip boiler and a 600kW gas boiler will provide space heating for two buildings with a total floor area of 4000m2.

The new boilers replace old oil boilers and a gas boiler in three separate boiler rooms. A former oil tank room is being converted into a wood fuel store. Wood fuel will be delivered through an opening in the roof by scissor-lift trailer, which is being bought for a number of sites in Bristol.

The system design is being undertaken with financial support from the Carbon Trust.
