Town benefits from feed-in tariff

Solar PV installation on wood chip store

The town of Sasbachwalden asked our German office to assess the technical and economic feasibility of a solar power installation on the roof of a wood fuel store (see this case study) Our assessment showed that a 40kW installation taking advantage of the feed-in tariff for solar PV would have a simple payback of 11 years. The town of Sasbachwalden was happy to proceed on that basis.

We undertook all design and implementation work for the client (using sub-contractors for the installation itself). In view of the shallow roof angle, the PV modules had to be mounted on racks in order to maximise their output.
