CHP plant for palette factory

5MW heat-and-power system

A 5MW Combined-Heat-and-Power plant is being planned for a palette factory in the Black Forest (Germany). The system will be fired with wood off-cuts from the palette production. Electricity will be generated by a 900kW module based on the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC).

The plant will generate heat and electricity for the factory itself and for the entire village, including a hospital, school, town hall and mineral spring.

Total project costs are of the order £4.5 million (€ 6.5 million).
